Please note: Family Rail Trail Tours will run on demand for the 2009/2010 & 2010/2011 season. We have no scheduled departures due to the wide range of requirements from individual families. The following pricing is based on 1, 2 and 3 family groups made up of 2-3 children. The quoted itinerary below may vary between families based on individual requirements. If you are looking for an active family holiday in New Zealand then the Otago Central Rail Trail is just perfect! Step back in time to New Zealands rural past and join us on this cycle delight. The route follows the Old Maniototo rail line from Clyde in central Otago to Middlemarch. Our Otago Central Rail Trail cycling tour ends with one of the worlds great train trips as we travel on the spectacular Taieri Gorge railway into Dunedin.

The Otago Central Rail Trail trip is not just about the cycling but rather exploring the many small towns and abandoned gold diggings and meeting local inhabitants. Along the way we will even try our hand at the ancient art of curling (bowls on ice).

Our itinerary is flexible, so we can make adjustments during the tour to make sure eveyone is enjoying themselves. The accommodation chosen is family-friendly and the meals are designed to suit all ages.

Custom Tours: If a group itinerary doesn’t suit your family, we can usually arrange something that will. Many special tour options are available which we can tailor make to your requirements. These can include additional time spent exploring, alternative overnight locations in historic hotels and farmstays or just different dates or finishing points.
