Back for its 4th year, the Paddy Pallin Adventure Series is looking forward to more exciting events in the true AROC Sport adventure style. Providing an event for everyone, the series continues to challenge those experienced teams while also providing a stepping stone for beginners with the specially designed Novice Courses.

The Paddy Pallin Adventure Race Series involves teams of 3 traveling the course together by mountain bike, kayak and on foot. You will be given maps before the start and will have to find your way from checkpoint to checkpoint. Lots of short legs with lots of changing of disciplines to keep it super interesting. The aim is fun and you will find our adventure courses will bring you the ultimate way to have a blast with your friends.

Teams of 3 people - mixed, male or all female categories.

Kayaks, paddles and PFDs provided. You need your own mountain bike and bike helmet.

Novice Course (short course)

Within each event you can choose to do the Novice Course (short course). This is a shortened version of the Classic Course taking only 1-2 hours to complete. There are various legs and mix of disciplines but if you add them together the total distance you cover will be something like: 3km on foot, 10km on the mountain bike and 2-3km of paddling. If you choose this course you are also entitled to attend a special novice briefing the night before the event. Here you will learn the basics of map reading and navigation as well as tips and hints to ensure your day is as enjoyable as possible. You dont have to choose this option if you are a novice adventure racer - you can go straight to the Classic Course if you like to jump in the deep end.

Classic Course

The AROC course you have all come to know and love. 3-5.5 hours in length - enough to give you a good workout! The total distances you will cover is approximately 10km on foot, 20km of mountain biking and 5km of paddling.

Advanced Course

Any team that completes the Classic Course in a given time period may move on to the Advanced Course and complete the additional bonus section. This provides those experienced teams with an additional 1-2 hours of racing and some extra challenging navigation. The details of the Advanced Course criteria for each event will be on the specific event web page within the 2 weeks prior to the actual event.

Corporate Challenge

You can compete in the Corporate Challenge category and contend with other corporate teams for the Corporate Challenge and the well-deserved bragging rights on Monday morning (leaving you Sunday to take care of these muscle aches!). To enter this category you must satisfy the following 2 criteria: at least 2 out of 3 of the team members must be from the same company and your team name must integrate your companys name.

Paddy Pallin Gear & Info Nights

With a special gear and information night in each of Canberra and Sydney prior to each event, this is your opportunity to pick up some gear specials (check out our suggested gear list <here>) as well as gather some great tips on adventure racing. This is especially targeted to first time adventurers but anyone can attend.
