The Course
Taking advantage of the great single track already known to many riders – the likes of Coondoo, Superbowl, and the Butterfly Track – as well as other fantastic trails in the area, the course provides a great contrast of beach and bush, a bit of sand, a bit of mud, and a whole heap of dirty bliss, all looping back to the start! All great fun. Dont be put off by the summer date, as youll have the opportunity to head straight into the cooling waters of Jervis Bay, right alongside the finish line. It’s got the makings of a classic, with a bit of something for everyone, and a great chance to challenge your mates.
The race will consist of approximately 30% single track, 25% single trail, 45% fire trail and has no sealed road, bar the crossing of Forest Rd.
The 100km course starts at the Callala Beach RSL club and riders will travel through the private property of Comberton Grange and the Currambene State Forest for their first taste of the fantastic trails and forest scenery that the area is renowned for. After approx. 15km, the course will cross Forest Rd, where riders will ride the Butterfly and Superbowl tracks along with a variety of other trails to the north of Forest Rd before crossing the Forest Rd once again to complete the last half of the race. The last half of the 100ker comprises the majority of the 50ker course, so after a while, 100ker riders will start to pass some of the 50ker field as they move closer to the finish line. Heading west, riders will arrive at the fantastic Coondoo Track, before heading into a private property, rich with unknown yet beautiful trails before turning East and heading back to the finish line. The approximate altitude gain for the 100ker course will be in the vicinity of 1,800 to 2,000m, while the 50ker will be more like 700 - 900m. Dont be fooled thought, the course will be fast and free-flowing, potentially sapping the energy from those riders who go out that little bit too hard. Be on the lookout for plenty of goodies from Shotz Sports Nutrition to get you through to the finish line.
Whilst you can ride the course before hand, State Forests NSW are becoming very aware of the extra wear and tear on tracks (not just single track – all of it!). As such if you do ride please respect the basic tenets of mountain biking – take litter out with you, leave the tracks as you found them, and if it’s soaking wet or other wise damaged/likely to be damaged by riding on, wait a few days before heading out. The private property being used, Comberton Grange, is not to be ridden before or after the event.
Course Facilities
This event is an unsupported race. There is to be no outside assistance at any time during the race.
There will be 3 water stations for the 100km course, and 1 water station for the 50km course. The stations will be located at approx. 25km intervals.
Water and electrolyte tabs will be available at each station, and while you should come prepared with appropriate nutrition for the day, a mix of bananas and sugar lollies will be available at some of the stations.
Maps
As THE 100Ker MTB Enduro covers a lot of private property land, maps will only be available at the event centre on the weekend of the race.
