The event is a mass participation ride from Brisbane to the Gold Coast for thousands of cyclists. The event starts at South Bank and utilises the South East Busway to travel to Eight Mile Plains and then travels through Eagleby, Logan, Beenleigh, Coomera and Helensvale to the Gold Coast with a finish at Southport.
In addition to Bicycle Queensland’s aim of increasing the awareness of cycling the event also raises funds for health related charity/research organisations for which cycling forms part of the solution to their challenge. The beneficiaries for 2010 are the Heart Foundation and Diabetes Australia - Queensland.

Is it a race?
No! The event is a mass participation ride to raise funds for our charity partners and to get more people cycling. There are no prizes for getting there first and competition of any sort is actively discouraged.
How hard is the ride? Will I make it?
Yes! We believe anyone who can maintain an average cycling speed of 17km per hour or more should be able to complete the event. 17kph is surprisingly achievable.
I’ve never ridden 100kms in a day before. The ride is as hard or as easy as you make it. If you are an occasional rider or a moderately fit person there is no reason why you can’t complete this event. With the motivation of thousands of like-minded cyclists you’ll be surprised how far you can ride.
It is about riding at your own steady pace and keeping your energy up by drinking lots and eating regularly throughout the ride. Above all, enjoy the ride and take your time. It’s not a race, and there are no prizes for getting there first.
Remember there is a 60km ride option starting from Maurice Park, Eagleby (Logan).
Go to preparation and training for more info about how to get you and your bike in shape.

Is there a limit to the number of entries?
Yes! The limit is determined by how many riders we can safely pass through the Busway within the time limit allowed. Participation has grown by an average of 2000 per year. It’s highly likely the event will reach maximum capacity soon.
