Loop the Lake is a leisure ride around beautiful Lake Macquarie of 16km, 50km or 85km finishing at Speers Point Park.
Organised by the Rotary Club of Warners Bay, Loop The Lake is assisted by Traffic
Police, CREST Communications Volunteers and St. John Ambulance.
Route Marshals are provided by the Lake Macquarie Rotary Clubs of Morisset, Toronto,
Toronto Sunrise, Cardiff, Belmont, Bennetts Green and Warners Bay.
Mobile Van Marshals are provided by the Men’s Probus Club of Valentine to assist wherever possible.
Police patrol the route for the duration of the event in Patrol Cars and Motorcycles equipped with loud hailers.
The police also carry emergency signage to highlight road hazards.
Motor Cycle Marshals : Loop the Lake Bicycle Challenge is in its 15th year. For most
of those years, Alan Craig and Brad Woodhouse of B & C Motorcycles, Boolaroo,
have provided three motorcycle marshals to give mobile support to cyclists as they
traverse the narrower sections of the road around the lake, such as Rutleys Road and
the bends near Valentine and Eleebana. On these sections of road, a four wheeled
vehicle is often more of a nuisance than a help, while the motor cycle can cruise near
the cyclists, offering advice, admonition or support without the threat of a ton of metal.
The motor cyclists can also shield cyclists from impatient drivers more easily, without creating too much angst.
We thank our powered friends for their consistent support since inception of Loop the Lake.
We also provide:
Cyclists should be aware that Loop The Lake is graded as a medium to hard event and is ‘on road’.
Rain or shine, we ride!
It is expected that cyclists will abide by the road rules and ride with care and consideration of others.
Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a registered cycling adult.
The cycle path from Eleebana to Speers Point Park can be used if you wish.
Entrants with two-wheeled trailers will not be accepted due to safety concerns.

Warners Bay is on the shore of Lake Macquarie, north of Sydney. The Rotary Club has been active in the local community for over 30 years, providing its members with fellowship and many opportunities for service.
The annual recreational bicycle challenge, LOOP THE LAKE, is in its 14th year, and has enabled the Club, in co-operation with the other Lake Macquarie Rotary Clubs, to raise over $900,000 for John Hunter Childrens Hospital, in particular the Play Therapy Program, and other Rotary charities.
